February is St Kilda Festival time

A truly Melbourne tradition, it is a celebration of summer, with the backdrop as the beautiful St Kilda foreshore it is the perfect location to showcase Australian artists and talents.
This year the festival runs from February 1st - 9th with Yalukit Wilum Ngargee: People Place Gathering on Saturday 1 February 2014 at O’Donnell Gardens, all are invited to enjoy a celebration of exceptional indigenous talent.
As one of the largest events on Melbourne's summer event calendar - the festival offers an extensive entertainment program to appeal to everyone, with ngaging activities and interactive workshops by bringing together arts and music to celebrate the diversity of Australian culture.
There is also the opportunity to take in small scale live performances by emerging local artists as the community of St Kilda open their venues and participate in the celebration - keep an eye out for restaurants, retailers and music venues opening their doors for these intimate events.
The final day of the festival, (Sunday, 9th February) is the culmination event with a grand beach party finale that is expected to see crowds of more that 300,000 people in attendance.
More than 60 bands across 5 music stages, activities and workshops there really is something for everyone.
The St Kilda Festival is produced and presented by the City of Port Phillip and supported by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria.
With street closures due to this event, transport by tram or walking is recommended and with the tram line passing right by Mint Melbourne St Kilda Rd, this is the perfect excuse to stay near the action.
