Surf's Up on the Gold Coast

The Breaka Burleigh Pro kicks off today with fantastic weather and good swell after the recent weather events that have hit the queensland coast.

A great event to showcase the iconic gold coast coastline and perfectly timed to let the world know that the region is open for business and hosting internationally ranked events.

The eight day event started early today and for the first time will feature a six-star competition women's event as well as the four-star men's event.

With international stars like Tyler Wright, Laura Enever, Bede Durbidge, Julian Wilson, Owen Wright and our very own Australian headliners Mick Fanning and Mark Occhilupo.

Occhilupo is lining up as the professional wildcard, and will be surfing against a line up of talented amateur locals, that have been singled out and offered wildcard spots giving them a chance of a lifetime to ride up against their homegrown hero.

Head to the beach at Burleigh and support your favourite boardrider at this free family friendly event and keep an eye out along the coast during the week as the surfers from the professional tour enjoy the sunshine and fun that the gold coast is famous for.

For accommodation over this event choose to stay at Mint Broadbeach in the heart of the gold coast or at Mint Coolangatta Points North Apartments at the southern end of the coast, limited availability remaining.

It felt like home away from home

Definitely well worth the money. From the moment we opened the door and saw the long wide corridor we knew we in for a treat. Massive living space/dining/kitchen - and the bedrooms were impressively huge. The rooms were bright and airy and the carpets soft and fluffy. Huge balcony and spa bath. A great view of the beach and parks right across the street. Bea..
