The Ekka is just a month away
Posted on 10-Jul-2013
The Ekka (The Royal Queensland Show) is back next month and is set to be the biggest and best to date. Each August the RNA Showgrounds hosts some of the most tensely fought agricultural competitions with over 24,000 entrants in over 20 categories from showing beef cattle, horses, ponies, goats, fresh produce, arts to bush poetry.
The highlights for the young ones are usually the horse and pony competition, the animal pavilion petting zoo, side show alley with all of the rides and the show bag pavilion. For the adults there is more than enough to while the day at the ekka away - take in any of the competitions, try the many local foods and wine on display, take in one of the cooking or cake decorating demonstrations and admit that you are never too old for a show bag yourself.
The Ekka runs from August 8th - 17th including The Royal Queensland Show public holiday on Wednesday 14th August. Stay and play in the city at Mint Brisbane, perfectly located for you to walk across to the RNA showgrounds or along the riverside boardwalk into the city.
